Serious Burns - First Aid Workshop
Who the course is for
This workshop has been developed to help those people who work in High Risk Burn situations know how to deal with a burn casualty in an emergency situation. You do not need to be already trained as a first aider to attend this workshop, as this is designed to be very specific to those who are first on scene or at the scene when a serious Burn Incident occurs. This workshop will cover hot works, high heat, steam and high voltage burns
What the course covers
- Recognising the dangers of intervention and taking first steps precautions
- Building a suitable first aid kit for High Risk Burns work
- Identifying means of evacuating someone from immediate threat without causing further harm
- Calculating % area of burn for 999 operator information - which may trigger helivac
- Immediate first aid treatment for serious burns
- Using an evacuation sled as a means of quick exit from confined spaces or to remove from immediate danger
- Understanding serious consequences of shock.
